Genova Sound

Genova Sound, a column to tell the story of Genoa and music, starting from the famous school of Genoese singer-songwriters who made the city famous throughout the world.

Fabrizio De Andrè, Bruno Lauzi, Gino Paoli, Luigi Tenco, just to name a few, a hotbed of artists who between the 50s and the 80s created the best of Italian music.

Historic artists and groups that have become world-famous, such as Ricchi e Poveri, still touring the world today performing concerts, not to mention Matia Bazar, refined music that is still catchy after all these years.

Our column Genova Sound was born remembering with great nostalgia the old “Radio Genova Sound”, a dive to the heart for those over fifty, a radio point of reference for all Genoese between the 70s and 80s when private radio exploded in all their strength: there was no internet, social media did not exist and teenagers, but not only, made dedications to the radio, communicating their feelings in a different way.

Indelible memories of a city that is always alive, despite appearances.

Through the Genova Sound column we will try to retrace memories, seek curiosity, ignite nostalgia, but we will also look forward, because music is eternal and today Genoa has new singer-songwriters, young generations who in the footsteps of the masters seek their own path.

Genova Sound will be this: a dive into the past and one foot in the future, from vinyl to MP4, it seems like centuries have passed, but a few decades were enough to make the difference.
